Summer News and a Request

 

Dear Friends of the Academy,

This summer will be busy here at the Academy, not with the students, but with lots of renovations, particularly in the annex house where several staff members stay.

Believe it or not, there has not been any serious work done there since the Academy started almost twenty years ago.  Of course, it is livable, but not entirely so.

Right now the house is being gutted of much of the old plaster and stripped down to the bare wood. Even some of that is being torn out since the whole ground floor will be changing shape.

Besides this, we hope to continue some work on the chapel.  The altar needs to be completed, and Mr. Dias hopes to begin work on the stained glass.  Next, we will need to start from scratch on the sacristy since we never really had one.

So much needs to be done, but there is a simple problem, the St. John Bosco problem: we are low on funds. – I didn’t even mention the engine in our loaner car went kaput.

Is there any way you can offer some assistance?

For you to get an idea of what has been done so far on the chapel, above is a picture of us singing an hour of the Little Office of the BVM on May 31, traditionally the Feast of the Queenship of Mary [Below is a photoshopped picture of an idea what the stained glass windows might look like]:

If you can help, in gratitude I would be happy to send you a picture of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart that Mr. Dias has worked on.
